About Me
In 2021,
I started experiencing debilitatingly painful periods, sudden weight gain, and extreme fatigue. I was taking extra strength pain medication 24/7 during my period, still working out excessively and not eating enough in an attempt to lose weight, taking random supplements that I saw on social media, and drinking caffeine just to get through the day. As I’m sure you could guess….none of it was helping!
I felt like a stranger in my body - I hated the way that I felt and looked and it was what I thought about for the majority of the day. It affected the way that I carried myself, dressed, and acted around others. I felt helpless and was desperate to feel like myself again.
In 2016,
I experienced the sudden loss of a family member and the end of a relationship at the same time. I was unable to eat or sleep, was experiencing severe anxiety every moment that I was awake, and was spending 2-3 hours a day at the gym as a distraction. I invested all of my focus, energy, and self-worth into looking a certain way and maintaining it (0/10 would not recommend!!)
I was always on the go - I felt my most fulfilled when I was busy, and if I’m being honest, at least a little bit stressed. In university I was taking a full course load and working both a full-time and part-time job.
Why?
In 2022,
I had an ovarian cyst rupture (OUCH) and went to my GP for support, hoping for information about why it happened and how to avoid it happening again in the future. She told me that my labs were all normal (we’ve all heard that before…) and her only suggestion was for me to go on hormonal birth control.
I knew that this was not the path I wanted to take so I began to do research on my own, and began to learn more about the power of holistic nutrition and wellness.
I considered hiring a nutrition coach, but felt that I wanted to learn it all myself and decided to do things the (VERY) hard way. I enrolled in the Natural Nutrition program at the Canadian School of Natural Nutrition and spent the next year learning about how all of the different body systems and their interconnections, nutrition, sleep, stress, movement, and other lifestyle factors can impact our health.
I realized that I was incredibly passionate about holistic nutrition and that I wanted to share what I learned with other women who were experiencing the same issues that I once was. I took another course and learned how to interpret functional labs, and now here I am!
